Frequently Asked Questions
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipisicing elit.
How do I get emergency dental care?
Your first step in obtaining emergency periodontal care is to call Central Perio and let someone on our staff assist you. If you’re suffering from a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately.
Most hospital emergency rooms, mobile clinics, and urgent care centers are not equipped to handle dental or periodontal emergencies, and thus if you go to one of these locations, you’re unlikely to be treated.
In most cases, we can see you on the same day, but please call us as soon as possible and let us determine how soon you should come in.
Periodontal emergencies are often an indication of bigger problems, and an important sign that its time to get back into the habit of regularly visiting the dentist. Regular dental check-ups can help prevent future emergencies, saving you time, money, and your natural teeth.
How can I book an appointment online with a dentist?
If you’d like to make a convenient appointment using our online scheduler, please follow the link on our website. While this system is ideal for current patients, if you have any questions or are a new patient, it may be easier for you to call us directly and speak to our staff first.
Once booked, you should expect a confirmation call or email from us within 24 hours.
How do I find the best place to get dental work done?
The first step in finding the best periodontal care in Dallas is to define what exactly you’re looking for in a periodontist. Usually, this is some combination of welcoming your insurance, affordable payments, an ideal location, excellent credentials, high safety and cleanliness standards, and convenient hours.
You also want to get a feel for the practice itself. How do they treat their patients? To learn more about how other patients feel about their care, peruse their Google reviews, and take a look at the staff and doctor bios on their website.
What level of education is required to be a periodontist?
Here in the United States, all dentists must earn either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) from one of the nation’s 67 accredited dental schools.
Acceptance into dental school requires the student to earn a bachelor's degree along with high grades in a major heavy in math and sciences.
Dental school is then an additional three-year program with a combination of classroom and hands-on learning. Following dental school, periodontists must take a three-year periodontal residency. In total, your periodontist receives 10 or more years of dental education before they are free to practice.
Beyond graduation, all dentists, no matter their education level, are required to complete a certain number of continuing education hours to keep their license active.
