Many people have questions when it comes to scheduling an appointment with a dental specialist, with the first one being, “Do I need a referral from my dentist?” Thankfully, you do NOT. Your First Visit
Your initial visit will mainly involve Dr. Tunnell having a conversation with you about what you hope to accomplish by visiting him, and then he’ll give you a very detailed exam. He’ll use both of these to come up with a proposed treatment plan, and you’ll leave this appointment with all the information you need. You’ll also have time to ask questions and discuss pricing/financing.

Dental Insurance
The team at Central Perio works tirelessly to provide periodontal and dental implant care of the highest possible quality with the primary intention of treating our patients as we would like to be treated ourselves. In light of the practice culture we work to establish built on respect, integrity, honesty, empathy, competence and professionalism, we have established the following financial policy to be as up front as possible in regards to the fees in our practice:
As we believe dental insurance companies often infringe on the relationship between doctor and patient, we have elected to be an out of network provider for all insurance plans in order to maintain the culture that our practice has worked so hard to establish. However, we recognize that many patients with dental insurance would like to utilize their benefits. Therefore, as a courtesy, we will file insurance claims electronically for those patients with dental coverage. Alternatively, we can provide patients with a receipt of services, referred to as a “superbill”, that includes information patients need to file for reimbursement with their insurance provider themselves.
